I can’t believe it, and it’s a little embarrassing, but i’m finally getting my cousin’s Senior Portraits up on the NSP Blog! It’s crazy how time works. One minute i’m in Idaho taking my cousin’s senior photos as she prepares to start her last year of High School, and the next minute she’s about to start her first year of college!! So I decided to blog these photos as a celebratory post to my sweet cousin as she embarks on a new journey and furthers her education.
I still remember the day Katie was born. I was 6 years old and my family and I lived in England at the time, but were blessed to be able to spend a few months in America with my mom’s side of the family, as we anxiously awaited Katie’s birth. I remember the day we got to visit my Aunt and new little baby cousin in the hospital. My sister and I were wearing matching dresses that day, and my Grandma took us and our cousin Danny to the playground across the street from the hospital while we waited for the nurses to let us in. I remember looking through the glass and into the room at my Aunt holding Katie. She was so beautiful and had a full head of gorgeous hair! Being bald myself until the age of two, I was astounded that it was actually possible for a baby to be born with hair lol Another sweet memory I have of Katie’s first days is sitting on my Grandma’s bed with Danny and my sister, who held Katie. She latched onto my sister’s chin, searching for something to suck on, and we all giggled and laughed at how cute she was. That moment would be the first of many special moments that we would share together as cousins.
Looking back through the years, it’s a blessing to remember all of the sweet times we have had together as a family. Watching Katie grow up has been so much fun and I am so proud of who she is today. Being the youngest of the cousins, it’s hard to believe she has graduated high school already. It feels like the last piece of my childhood has come to an end as Katie, who has kept us all young through the years, is entering into adulthood. But it’s beautiful. And she is beautiful.
Flying up to Idaho to capture these special photos is a memory I will hold dear for the rest of my life. I love being a photographer and taking photos, and being asked to be someone’s photographer, even when family members ask, is such a delight. Katie wanted two things for her senior photos; some of her with her softball gear at her high-school’s dugout, and some of her in the beautiful nature that Idaho has to offer. And that’s exactly what we did! We had a blast together and I will never forget spending those precious moments capturing Katie’s Senior Portraits.
If you’ve read this far…thank you!! I hope you enjoy Part One of Katie’s senior photos at her high school:
