“You are going to be my wedding photographer” Yveline told me. I honestly didn’t know how to answer her, so I smiled and laughed nervously and said “we’ll see.” First of all, I had never shot a wedding before and I wasn’t even sure if I was cut out for the job! Second, Yveline wasn’t even engaged yet. But her words rang in my ears as I thought about the possibility of shooting her wedding, what that would feel like, and if I would be ready or not. But she was the first person who ever expressed their desire for me to photograph their wedding, and I have to say, it meant the world to me.
I met Yveline during our sophomore year of university. We were quad mates and almost from the minute we met, I knew we were going to be friends. We would often eat dinner together, and I recall so many late nights sitting on her bed in her room just hanging out. Sometimes we would talk about everything, sometimes we wouldn’t talk at all…just be together. But most times we talked about the deep and meaningful things of life…and for that I am so thankful. When we met she had just started dating someone, named Barnabhey. Since we both were from Ga, but living in Va, both of our boyfriends were still living in Georgia so we had a lot in common both having long distance relationships. We would often carpool together for holidays and one late evening, while I was dropping Yveline off at a random shopping strip, I met Barnabhey and immediately understood why Yveline was so in love with him.
Six years later, Barn proposed and the two were engaged! Yveline asked Bence and I to be their wedding photographers and we gladly accepted! “See?” she said, “I told you that you were going to be my wedding photographer :)” And she was right! She was the first person to ever want me to be their wedding photographer, and she believed in me even when I didn’t think I was cut out for the job. By the time their wedding day approached, Bence and I had already photographed six weddings and I felt prepared to capture her day well. The touching ceremony was held at The Church at Liberty Square in Cartersville, and then it was time to party at the Clarence Brown Conference Center! We had a blast spending the day with Yveline, Barn, and all of their amazing friends and family members 🙂
Having the honor of playing such an important role in one of my best friends weddings is difficult to put into words. But I am so thankful for the friends that Yveline and Barn have become. Their love and devotion for one another is so evident in the way that they treat one another, honor one another, and support one another. We are so thankful and blessed to have these two in our lives; we are thankful for how they love us and support us, and we are so happy for them and the new adventure they are on as a married couple.
One of my favorites 😉 I love you Yveline!! You are a stunning bride.
